Fertility Question

Does a Woman Need to Have an Orgasm to Conceive?

This fertility question, “does a woman have to have an orgasm to conceive?” has been asked quite a bit. While the answer is “no”, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have an orgasm. You see nature has built these things in to insure procreation. It makes the act itself pleasurable and one that you want to do over and again.

If the question were, “does a man have to have an orgasm in order to conceive?” the answer is an emphatic yes. It’s through male orgasm that the sperm is released. Even if if artificial insemination or invitro fertilization is done a man has to have an orgasm for conception to occur. But women are different. I’m sure there are many women who have never had an orgasm and yet conceived many number of children.

Orgasms Make the Journey Fun and Pleasurable

But be encouraged, while female orgasm isn’t necessary for conception to occur, it can greatly enhance the chances. Orgasm serves as a procreation function. It’s a built-in guarantee that life will continue to be created and thankfully a fun and pleasurable way!

The Mechanics of an Orgasm

It’s important for the man to reach orgasm first or at the same time. If you reach orgasm first it can make the vaginal pH environment hostile to the sperm. Good quality fertile cervical fluid will help to keep the sperm alive. The cervix is more open during ovulation and pregnancy is more possible because it allows entrance of the semen. It helps if he can go
“deep” and deposit the semen right at the cervical entrance.

couple Another good reason for the man to reach orgasm first and you second is because during an orgasm the blood flow to your ovaries, vagina and uterus is greatly increased. The spasms you have in the cervix acts to help “suck up” the semen. The mild uterine contractions (that are a result of an orgasm) encourage the semen and fertile cervical fluid to move along toward the fallopian tubes, where the egg awaits.

The female orgasm will continue to produce these mild uterine contractions for about 20 minutes. This is why it’s a good thing to lay on your back during this, to help the semen to flow into the uterus and up to the egg.

So remains the fertility question – is it necessary for a woman to have an orgasm in order to conceive. The answer is no, but having an orgasm certainly increases the chances of conception happening! And if you aren’t able to achieve an orgasm during intercourse, then by all means do so afterwards. This is just as beneficial as reaching it during intercourse. Above all, enjoy the process!
